(Disconsider my first submission of this flag, I wasn’t so familar with the ‘lunarian’ concept and this one is also better worded)

Lunar eclipse sappho flag: inspired by the lunar eclipse lesbian flag and the lesbian flag by @alterniflora

The concept is similar to the lunar eclipse lesbian one but for sapphics, a mix between a sun sapphic and a moon sapphic who is mostly, but not only, masculine presenting and/or aligned

Diffently than lunar eclipse lesbian, can also be a gender, similar to saphboy

Can be used by any masc who feel connected to womanhood somehow, speacially through being sapphic, and also by both masc aligned sapphic lunarians and fem aligned sapphic solarians

I really love @varioriented-pride’s Bi-Gay flag and wanted to create one inspired by it for my pansexual friends. So here’s my take on a Pan-Bi flag. It could also be seen as an alternative flag for Gay Pan, Gaypansexual, or any other similar identity such as those listed in the descriptions of the identities linked, or if you feel it fits your identity if it’s not listed!

Enbisian • a nonbinary person (non-aligned or woman-aligned) attracted exclusively to other nonbinaries (non/woman-aligned) & binary women (trans and cis)

Souplemour: A relationship that is flexible between romantic and queer platonic.

Useful for grayromantic, aroflux, and other arospec identities where levels of romantic attraction vary during a relationship.

Souplemour can also be used to describe a partner that you’re in a souplemour with.

Souple” is French for “flexible,” and “mour” comes from the French “amour” meaning love.

Flag meaning:

The two red stripes represent varying levels of romantic attraction

Pink represents a relationship that may look romantic in nature but is not

Orange represents flexibility between romantic and queer platonic attraction

The two yellow stripes represent varying levels of queer platonic attraction

(Created by my grayromantic headmate to describe his relationship with his souplemour)

klepto-ideinity

A neuro ideinity for people with Kleptomania, who steal genders, sexualitys, orientations, attractions, persona’s, names, ocs. While they wouldn’t necessarily identify with without Kleptomania, they do want to identify with it out of a compulsion to steal.

Even though they know it’s wrong, they might privately or outwardly steal Identites that they don’t actually have the ability to identify with- for example, neurogenders that they don’t have access to, cultural specific genders that they can’t really id with, etc.

7 stripes, dark blue, bright purple, cyan, white, cyan, bright purple, dark blue. In the center is a symbol evocative of rams horns, and written around the horns in a circle is a series of glyphs.

The glyphs are in Voidyzian and spell the word 'Fiendish'.

-Designed by Lilyana aka The Trans FiendlingALT

Fiendgender: a xenogender for those who do not see themselves nor their gender as attached to hunanity but to the entities of spirit and magic often called fiends or demons.

I submited a cupio flag recently and it was so much fun I decided to do it again, so the moderators will probably hear from me again lol

This is an alternative queerplatonic flag

Light blue is for whole relationships

Light green is for grey-aro spec

Green is for aromaticism

The gradient means the gradient between romatic atraction: pink, and friendship: blue, the yellow in the middle is for (queer)platonic relationships

Light pink is for emotional closeness

Fuchsia is for phisycal affection

Purple is for love (in whatever shape or form)

Demifluid Transgender

When you’re trans man/trans woman and demifluid!

Think of it as, you’re transgender (static) while partially fluid with any gender or specific ones (not static), for example a demifluid transboy who’s fluidity is between demigirl and demineutral!

The coiner of the term doesn’t want to take credit because I believe this is something that already exists but had no flag before.

Fakebian (Reclaimed)

Flag inspired by the Aurora Lesbian flag by kenochoric and by the tucute flag by squishee-pop

Fakebian: a term for people questioning if their identity in regards to lesbianism is fake, or not real, to the point where impacts the rest of their identity.

Scenegender – A multi-aligned gender that is carefree, loud, all over the place, “Randum”, and does not care what others think.

Hey BMPF followers. It’s Fy. Been a couple years. Sorry for the sudden disappearance. Long story short: COVID affected my life, as I’m sure it has for many of you. Given my current physical limitations, I’m not sure if I’ll ever be able to have this blog up and running like it used to be. I’m not sure what direction (if any) I will take here, but for now I’ll be queuing up submission posts. I didn’t want to leave all the awesome flags you’ve all submitted to gather dust in the inbox.

on the search for a slightly improved Improved Disability Pride Flag

so. a couple hours ago @capricorn-0mnikorn answered an ask about the disability pride flag she made. it included an open request for people to try and make new images of this flag, fiddling with colour values and making more hi-res versions. i happen to know my way around a vector software, so i just spent some time fiddling and i have three things to share.

first off: the original in more pixels

i simply colourpicked from the original image and this is that. the dimensions are also slightly different, this is the dimensions that google tells me flags are typically in.

secondly, i fiddled with the colours

the colours have a bit more contrast here, i think, but still hopefully low contrast enough to work for photosensitive people. a screenshot of it in greyscale is as follows:

lastly, symmetric in greyscale:

with this version the greyscale version is symmetric, which i just think is neat

i’d also like to tag @spoonietimelordy, who introduced me to this flag and who is sensitive to the original disability pride flag, do these flags do anything with your migraine-stuffs?

Tha ks for the tag! I love all of them and do t have any problems with them at all. But tbh my autistic brain has a slight preference for the symmetrical saturation version ^^

Signal boosting so more people can see these variations, and weigh in.

capricorn-0mnikorn:

spoonietimelordy:

Pls do not reblog anything with the old disability pride flag, it does cause seizure and migraines, please use the new one which was created by the same person with the feedbacks of many other disabled people.

This is the safe one:

Dont use the zigzag one, your making disabled space inaccessible for a part of the community.

[Image description: a “Straight Diagonal” version of the Disability   Pride Flag: A charcoal grey flag with a diagonal band from  the top left  to bottom right corner, made up of five parallel stripes in  red, gold,  pale grey, blue, and green Description ends]

P.S.: I’ve answered this question in the comments, but not everyone reads those, so:

The reason (as it was explained to me) that the old design caused light sensitive seizures is that as you scrolled past it on your screen (phone, desktop, whatever) the moving, alternating, bright and dark stripes hits your retina and is registered by your brain as if it were flashing lights (and the zigzag shape exaggerated that). That’s why we took out the black stripes between the colors, and reduced the contrast.

This is also your friendly reminder to tag any GIF or video which has flashing lights (or flickering effects) you post with #Flashing, so people who are sensitive to that can block them.

crazychooklady:

I was sad seeing the ‘inclusivity flag’ did not mention disabled people at all. Disabled people are often left out of pride events due to a lack of accessibility, being thought of as being unable to communicate their queerness and infantalisation of disabled people.

I propose this flag which includes zigzag stripes and more muted colours as a reference to the disability flag. Because queer, disabled people are so often left out from pride events it is important we be remembered.

[Alt text two versions of the inclusivity flag – one of which includes the intersex flag.

Both of these inclusivity flags have been made to have more muted colours and the rainbows zig-zagging down the flag, akin to that of a disability flag.

There is a dark grey background in the gaps at the top and bottom of the flag.]

luca-art-blog:

Been thinking about Pillow Queens/Princesses, and how there’s no official flag, but @beyond-mogai-pride-flags made the one on the left. From what I’ve found, the title is predominantly used by femme folk, and there’s no such thing as a Pillow King/Prince (at least not widely recognized). So, I figured I might try my hand at making one! I used Mogai’s flag as a basis for my design and just changed the hues and saturation to be more “masc” leaning, but put some purple, lavender and white in there to help recognize non-binary peeps too (esp those who might use masc pronouns).

And that’s that on that.

Apparently I wasn’t done 🤔

These are FABULOUS, OP, but can I suggest one to the riff of “QUEERNESS IS NOT DEFINED BY THE AMOUNT PEOPLE HAVE SUFFERED”?

Thanks! Here you go 🥰

Some other additions:

Inspired by @unicorn-in-the-library:

And because @surfs-up-roxy wanted an ace one:

I didn’t want to make the message ace-specific because I wanted to make a point of how all of the above include aspec people, but I tried to use an ace colour palette for the background 🙂 I also think the message applies especially (even if not exclusively) to the ace community!

Hope you like these 🥰

@rockmarina possibly “all labels were made up at one point, stop being an ass”?

I played around with the concept a bit, I hope you like it anyway!

I feel like this also needs to be said:

[ID:

Image 1: (in white text, on a background of rainbow watercolors) Gatekeeping hurts queer people who are questioning.

Image 2: (in white text, on a background of rainbow paint strokes) Gatekeeping hurts more queer people than it protects.

Image 3: (in white text, on a background of pastel watercolors) How about you let people question their gender and sexuality in peace.

Image 4: (in white text, on a photo of the rainbow pride flag flying in a blue sky) People don’t owe you a chronicle of their life experiences and feelings for you to decide whether they belong in their own community.

Image 5: (in white text, on a marbled pink background) I don’t know how to tell you this, but you are not the queer police.

Image 6: (in white text, on a background of multicolored textile) Stop siding with our oppressors.

Image 7: (in white text, on a photo of pieces of chalk arranged in a rainbow on asphalt) Not every queer person’s experiences need to be like yours.

Image 8: (in white text, on a background of shiny, rainbow chunks of metal (?)) Mind your own damn business.

Image 9: (in white text, on a mottled black & rainbow background) Let people change labels.

Image 10: (in white text, on a photo of a full moon in a dark sky) There’s no such thing as not being queer enough.

Image 11: (in white text, on a background of paint strokes in pink, white, magenta, purple and dark blue, the colors of the genderfluid pride flag) Vocabulary is designed to be constantly reinvented as human societies evolve, and labels aren’t the exception.

Image 12: (in white text, on a background of pink, purple, and turquoise) Gatekeeping is a product of privilege.

End ID]

Thanks so much for the image descriptions!

Here’s one more addition per @secretlycrazyhummingbird’s suggestion:

[Image description: (in white text, over a black background with trees decorated with multi-colored lights) Queer people don’t have to make themselves palatable to deserve respect. End ID]

And another one, per @mixed-bag-of-tricks’s suggestion!

[Image description: (in white text, over a wooden background with curved boards the colours of the rainbow) It’s okay to use a label even if it doesn’t fit perfectly. End ID]

…you know what, I think the message of this post really boils down to this:

[ID: (in white text, over a black background with striking rainbow lights) gatekeepers are nothing but bullies. End ID]

And I’m really glad this post has helped so many people feel a bit less alone in their struggles. Bullies have made a LOT of damage in this community—have made so many of us feel like impostors, like trenders, like maybe we were making up the things we were feeling—and it makes me so happy we’re all pushing back against their hateful, narrow-minded, queerphobic rhetoric.

Keep it up, everyone 💪🏼

Happy pride month to the post that marked the beginning of my journey to overcoming internalised queerphobia

kenochoric:

Evenic: A term for when someone is on the boundary of two existing identities. Users may feel as though they partly or entirely fall under both, or they may not identify as either one individually.

image

An example of this identity could be someone who feels as though they are in-between being a butch lesbian and a mlw trans man, and may feel identification with both labels at the same time. This term was coined as an alternative to cusper, which is a label that can be uncomfortable for some due to controversy, and usage in reactionary circles.

Important to note that, unlike cusper, this term does not exclusively describe a boundary between gnc cis and trans, it can be described as someone whose identity is on the boundary of any two identities, usually ones that do not typically go together (though not always.)

Here’s a live link to cusper- AP

mewtnute:

I’m really sick and tired of the demonization of the gay men/Nblm pride flag.

“It copied the lesbian flag” yeah and the lesbian flag copied flags created by gay men.

We literally copied off of each other, stop looking for excuses to hate gay men/nblm. And I know a lot of these same people are white because they’re constantly trashing and disregarding mlm and deciding to ignore the struggles of POC mlm. Y’all are so disgusting and sheltered, it’s beyond me.

Here’s a link to the document if people want to use it and the source I used for the cougar pride flag.

shapeshifter-of-constellation:

@butchspace I loooooove your orange butch flag. and i thought it’d be cool to splice together the lipstick lesbian & orange butch flag. as well as add the More Color More Pride stripes.

and mod T from butchspace suggested a great idea of having the white stripe symbolize those who dont ID as femme or butch.

i think this combo would be a great flag for the general lesbian community. i always see the lipstick femme flag used as the default for the lesbian community on tumblr. which is an act that treats femininity as the default, and makes butches feel left out and ignored.

transmasculine-history:

For Trans Day of Visibility, here are some brave trans men who have contributed to trans rights activism

Reed Erickson (1917-1992) was an American philantrophist. In 1964, he founded the Erickson Educational Foundation, which researched transsexuality and medical transition, and provided resources for trans people and their families. He also funded many other LGBT groups in the 60s through the 80s.

Lou Sullivan (1951-1991) was an American author and activist. In 1986, he founded FTM International an organization for trans men to help access resources and create a community. He had an immense contribution to the ftm community in the US.

Jamison Green (1948-) is an American activist, author, and educator. He has been advocating for better legal and medical policies for trans people since the 1980s. After Lou Sullivan passed away, Green took over writing the FTM International Newsletter. He wrote the book Becoming a Visible Man, about his own transition and about the shared experiences trans men in society.

Rupert Raj (1952-) is a Canadian activist and author, who has been active since the 70s. He is the founder of various trans rights publications and organizations, such as the Foundation for the Advancement of Canadian Transsexuals, the Metamorphosis Medical Research Foundation, Gender Worker, and the FTM Peer-Support Group.

Max Wolf Valerio (1957-) is a Native American poet, writer, musician, actor and activist. He transitioned in 1989, and in 2006 published The Testosterone Files, a memoir about his transition and experiences as a trans man.

Pepe Julian Onziema (1980-) is a Ugandan LGBT rights and human rights activist. He has campaigned against homophobic laws and coordinated pride parades. In 2013, he received the David Kato Vision and Voice Award, and was chosen as Stonewall’s Hero of the Year in 2014.

I know it’s been a million-billion years since this was posted, but I’d like to purpose a term for this experience:

Apaprogen: a label describing those who are apathetic as to what gender or pronouns they are referred to with.

Etymology

A portmanteau of the English words “Apathetic”, “Pronoun” and “Gender”.  Coined by Gent (Gender-Jargon), 2022. Pronounced “A-Pap-Ro-Jen”.

Here’s an example of the intended usage:

Ix is an Apaprogen. Being Apaprogenic, ix is apathetic to how one labels ixs gender or pronouns.

Term coin: Trinigender. A gender made up of multiple parts (often 3), that relate to each other like aspects of the Holy Trinity. In other words, they are both distinct separate parts (like Father/Son/Holy Spirit) but are also aspects of a single divine Being. This gender does not have to pertain exclusively to Western/Christian ideas of religion/divinity/Trinity. Nor does it inherently represent masculinity/masculine genders by relating back to the masc-coded Christian Trinity.

gender-jargon:

beyond-mogai-pride-flags:

Thanks for the new term!

This is an awesome term and I think it should be archived in my dictionary, however, it would require a more concise definition. I never want to redefine a term created by someone else, so I will just attempt to interpret the definition and reword it so it can be easily digested by the layman. Normally, I would ask the coiner if the rewording of their definition is welcome and adequate, but since this is an anon from 2018, I can’t exactly do that. Here’s what I came up with:

Trinigender: a gender that metaphorically functions like the concept of The Holy Trinity from Christianity, with the gender having multiple (generally three) distinct parts that are all facets of a larger, singular over-arching gender identity.

Since there is no flag for this term, I went ahead and created one:

  • The three inner stripes, from top to bottom, are cornflower blue, gold and burgandy, representing having multiple distinct facets to one’s gender identity.
  • The two outermost stripes on the top and bottom are tan, which is the color that results when mixing all three of the above colors, representing that the gender is also the sum of all those facets

Rainbow Parenting Pride Flag

gender-jargon:

beyond-mogai-pride-flags:

Rainbow family, MOGAI/LGBT+ or Queer parenting: referring to intersex / altersex / marginalized oriented / gender-aligned people raising one or more children as parents or foster care parents.

This includes: children raised by same-gender couples (homoparenthood), children raised by single IMOGA parents, children raised by duaric couples where at least one partner is LGBT+ (ultric parenting), children raised by transgender (or otherwise disigender) parents, etc.

Colors from intersex, LGBT+, trans and disigender alternate flags. ~ ap

Awesome term! Here’s a simplified flag I created for the term that still references the intersex, LGBT+, transgender and disigender flag, but has half the stripes:

Ian McKellen  says that all gay people should be trans allies

crossdreamers:

Sir Ian McKellen urges gay people to be better allies to the transgender community.

The legendary actor and Stonewall co-founder joined It’s a Sin star Olly Alexander for a special LGBT+ History Month talk on TikTok on February 25, Pink News reports.

Sir Ian said:

“I do hear people – gay people – talk about transgender people in very much the same terms as people used to talk about your common or garden gay.

“The connection between us all is we come under the queer umbrella – we are queer. I quite like being queer actually.

“The problems that transgender people have with the law are not dissimilar from what used to be the case for us, so I think we should all be allies really.“

This is not the first time the actor has stood up to transphobes.

Speaking to lifestyle magazine Attitude, the veteran star talked about how happy he was about Elliot Page coming out as transgender.

He felt “so disappointed” with himself for not recognizing the struggles that the then-teenage actor could have been facing when they worked together.

The actor talked about why it is important to be honest with oneself.

hi! i saw there was a lack of a māori takatāpui flag and i wanted to try to make one to fix that!

i wanted to include the diversity of gender and sexuality under the flag so i tried to incorporate the rainbow and the trans flag’s colours with the māori flag’s colours + koru to blend them to signify how none of these things can be separated from each-other in life’s path. i wanted to try to get the opinion of other māori (especially takatāpui māori) on this flag as i’m just one person and i would like to hear from people who may want to use this flag in the future. i appreciate any feedback! either way, reblogs are appreciated!

the flag is made with icons in mind and can be cropped into a square while still showing the entire design. if people are interested, i can post a full quality square version of this flag.

thank you for reading, arohanui!

Illusioromantic – a subset of pomoromantic!

Short definition: I like being romantic but I don’t assign gender or sex to romantic attraction and how I navigate romantic attraction.

Long definition below:

Illusioromantic is for people who feel like “What’s perceived as romantic varies wildly. I enjoy being what many might see as “romantic” with people, but I’ve never bothered assigning it to genders or sexes. Something [said something varies based on people] has impacted my ability to understand if I have romantic attraction or not”.  Could be seen as an “in between” to aromantic, pomoromantic, and cupioromantic.

Flag is based on a random “unassigned” flag I found online.

My reasons for this below!

The reason I am making this is because I know for myself, my neurodivergency and trauma issues kind of make me go “???” regardless of what type of attraction (minus sensual attraction, it’s complicated).

Here’s a concept (yet again, but bear with me) for a new lesbian pride flag.

lesbian-flag:

If you’re a lesbian on the internet I’m sure you’re aware of the lengthy discussions surrounding the lack of consensus about our community’s pride flag. This new addition may be a symptom of that problem, but I also hope that it provides a solution.

First of all, what’s wrong with the current flags going around? I think a major issue is that they break rules of good flag design. A good flag is simple enough that it can be drawn by hand – the gradient flags are difficult to reproduce from a set of basic colors, especially if you try to recreate them out of actual fabric. The specific colors of the gradient flags are often hard to remember and this is made clear when reproductions of them seem to have copy-pasted them from a google search. An ideal flag is something that a kid could draw with plain old markers.

It’s worth mentioning that the pink gradient flag was initially intended for “lipstick lesbian” pride – it was never meant to be a universal lesbian flag, and many people have expressed alienation from it. The pink/orange version of it attempts to recognize a broader sense of the community, but suffers from the same design flaws.

I find that many other flag proposals either lack visual coherence, try to incorporate too many elements, or have little symbolic meaning in their creation and seem to tack them on as an afterthought.

My answer to all of this is the following:

image

This tricolor flag is both distinctive and simple, while holding plenty of symbolic meaning.

Violet – The giving of violet flowers has historically been associated with lesbian love. Violet was used in the labrys flag (which has fallen out of popularity due to its use of the black triangle – it is still debated whether or not it is appropriate to reclaim this symbol.) The color purple has long been associated with homosexuality and LGBT activism in general. This stripe represents both the rich history of lesbian communities as well as our essential place in the broader LGBT community.

Pink – This stripe’s color is taken directly from the gradient flags. It retains its meaning of proud femininity.

Orange – Inspired by the “butch” recolor of the gradient flag, this color represents gender-nonconformity in women (orange being the opposite color to blue in color theory.) Gender non-conforming women are often under-represented while historically facing the brunt of homophobia on the front lines of LGBT activism. This stripe highlights their importance to the community.

The effect of the three colors subtly references the pink/orange gradient flag without being a direct edit of it. Most importantly, it is easy to reproduce in pride art and merchandise.

This flag has no white stripe between orange and pink and instead places them next to each other, as a nod to butch/femme culture and its significance to lesbian history. It also indicates that butch/femme is a specific subculture under the lesbian label, rather than a spectrum that all lesbians must fall on.

(Some bonus color symbolism – this flag is reminiscent of a sunset, a phenomenon caused by the filtering out of blue light – here, a nod to the lesbian ideal of always prioritizing women.)

This flag also lends itself well to edits that include text or symbols:

image

All three of these colors are also found in Gilbert Baker’s original pride flag.

And there we have it! A lesbian pride flag that references history, streamlines elements of previous iterations, and is easy to replicate and distribute.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you give this design some thought. Got any criticism? Praise? Please comment or send a message. All feedback is greatly appreciated!

🌻soulqueer!🌻

mogai-sunflowers:

soulqueer-

soulqueer (also known as almaqueer) is a term to describe queerness of the soul. it is a queer identity beyond the realms of queer sexuality and gender identity. it describes when the deepest parts of one’s soul, who they are, are intrinsically queer. it describes one who is queer through and through, like queerness is embedded in the very foundation of your soul, your bones, and everything about you.

it is a term to describe how one is queer in their gender and their sexuality, but that queerness also shapes everything about them- queerness radiates from the very core of who you are and explains the way you see the world. it is an identity and a worldview of queerness, of viewing your interactions, your beliefs, your passions, your core philosophy, through a lens of queerness planted intrinsically within you- queer describes your heart, who you are, and is a fundamental tenet of the way in which you view the world in a sense of passionately queer defiance of conformance.

this may be different for everyone, as queerness is different for everyone- but it’s when your soul itself seems queer and that in turn queers the lens through which you gaze at life such that everything about who you are is best interpreted as queerness and queer identity in all forms of societal liberation, not just gender identity and sexuality. it is not inherently a religious term, but it can be for those who interpret their identities and queerness in the lens of their religion.

image

[Image ID: A flag with nine equally-sized horizontal stripes. From top to bottom the colors are red-pink, orange, golden yellow, pale yellow, white, mint grey, medium grey-turquoise, medium grey-blue, and medium grey-pink/purple. End ID.]

flag meanings-

  1. Overall, the color theme represents pride and joy and full vibrance of the self
  2. Top stripe- red pink: the beauty of humanity
  3. 2nd stripe- orange: independence from and defiance of standards; the audacity of autonomy
  4. 3rd stripe- golden yellow: hope and the burning, blazing fire of passion for justice and peace
  5. 4th stripe- pale yellow: often pale yellow is associated with innocence and childhood, and the state of internal bliss that comes from total independence from stress. that’s what it means in this situation- the internal balance that comes from a childlike state of peace and calm with inner self
  6. 5th stripe- white: unity, kindness, diversity, and the unity of the queer community
  7. 6th stripe- grey mint-green: a metaphor for the natural self and being in harmony with your queerness as the natural root and blossom of your identity
  8. 7th stripe- medium blue-grey: often, disillusionment with paradigms of happiness can come from pain, grief, depression, or other forms of mental obstacles, often seen as stormy (blue and grey)- this stripe represents internal conflicts with emotions, mental health, and its effects on one’s queerness
  9. 8th stripe- medium grey-purple: sovereignty of queer identity
  10. 9th (bottom) stripe- medium grey-pink/purple: POC whose queer identity is soulqueer and also tied into how they experience their culture and cultural identity

PSA: this term is not to be touched by racists, sexists, queerphobes, islamophobes, anti-semitic people, ableists, bigots of any form, exclusionists (this means anyone who is anti-enby/male/mspec/trans lesbians and gays, anti-xenogenders or neopronouns, anti-pan, a-spec exclusionist, or otherwise a shitty exclusionist), or people who are not queer when it comes to their gender identity and sexuality. this term is an identity for a broader worldview of queerness, but it is still specifically for queer people.

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

this term is the culmination of everything i’ve been discovering about myself. it makes me deeply happy and feel whole in a way i’ve never felt from any label, and i hope it can be helpful to other queer people too. i would appreciate some boosts, as i am extremely happy with this and i’m certain others could be too, and i’d like it to spread if it can! note that i don’t necessarily support the views or past actions of some of the blogs i’m tagging here, but their platform could help distribute a term i feel could be helpful to many more queer people than just me and the few people who would see it from my platform.

Hobo- Pride Flag

image

Hobo- (hobosexual, hoboromantic, hoboplatonic, etc.): one who gets into relationships to avoid being homeless; dating/mating with the sole interest of having a place to stay.

[image transcript: 6 horizontal stripes colored with cyan, dark teal, yellow, orange, and grey. id. over.]

gender-resource:

Cisgenderless: the act of defaulting to one’s assigned gender due to not experiencing any indication, feeling or inclination of one’s genderness, which may or may not be accompanied by a possible lack of understanding of gender as a concept.

An identity described in the “Cis By Default” gender theory.

Etymology

From English, “cisgender” + “-less”, a word coined by Julia Serano in the 1990s describing one who’s gender matches their birth assignment combined with a neologistic suffix referring to genders relating to genderlessness; a word to describe cisgender people whose gender is their assignment, but not because they experience the gender associated with their assignment, but because they lack a gender identity and any sort of gender dysphoria, defaulting to their assignment as a result. Term coined by AVEN user R_1 in 2013.

Additional rumination by someone who identifies with the term can be found here: a blog post by Mundo Heterogéneo

on wordpress in 2020.

Flag

There only appears to be one flag for cisgenderlessness, which was posted as a proposal created by AVEN user ixi in 2015. It had a lukewarm reception, with complaints that it didn’t represent the gender experience, and was a case of ‘blue = boy’, ‘pink = girl’, etc. There original image was hosted on Photobucket and has a watermark. Here’s a recreation of the flag I made:

This flag consists with four equal-sized, horizontal stripes of the same size. From top to bottom, the stripes are white, light magenta, bright cerulean and purple. The stripes have the following meanings:

  • The white stripe represents genderlessness.
  • The light magenta stripe represents cisgenderless females.
  • The the bright cerulean stripe represents cisgenderless males.
  • The purple stripes represents cisgenderless intersex individuals.

Out of respect for this criticism, I decided to create my own version of a cisgenderless flag using some of the suggestions found in the flag thread on AVEN, with a degree of artistic liberty. This flag is what I use in the main portion of this post.

This flag consists of seven, equally-sized, horizontal stripes of the same size. From top to bottom, the stripes are white, beige, light moss green, turquoise, dusty lilac, salmon and white. The stripes have the following meanings:

  • The white stripes represent genderlessness.

gender-resource:

  • The beige stripe represents a lack of understanding of gender as a concept

  • The light moss green stripe represents indifference and apathy.

  • The turquoise stripe represents cisgenderless, perisex AMABs and their weak or non-existent feelings of Male gender.

  • The dusty lilac stripe represents cisgenderless (and ipsogenderless) Intersex individuals and their weak or non-existent feeling of gender (which may or may not be related to being intersex)

  • The salmon stripe represents cisgenderless, perisex AFABs and heir weak or non-existent feelings of Female gender

I had to start talking about gender eventually. 😅 Here’s a little comic I made for a friend of a friend, and I’m sharing it with everyone.

🎧 Autifein

Definition: Autifein is a neurogender exclusive to autistic people. It can be described as a female gender through a genderless lense. Someone who is autifein may feel female while also having a disconnect from gender all together due to neurodivergence.

It is not inherently nonbinary, as some autigein may still feel like a binary cis or trans female despite the disconnect. Others may also identify with labels such as autigxrl, girl+, agender woman, or demigirl.

New Orientation/Sexuality?

idesexual-space:

gendervoidperidot:

idesexual-space:

Hello! Due to the seemingly ongoing debate as to which definition of pansexuality is right– attraction to all genders vs. attraction irregardless of gender; I thought I’d try my hand at coining a new term to fix that! I ID as pansexual myself but have began to feel increasingly that the label no longer accurately represents me in what it currently means and, I’m sure others (might) feel the same. So, to avoid the headaches and confusion I thought it best.

To lay out some ideas, here are my label suggestions all pulled from Greek/Latin roots/prefixes respectively:

  • Iso/Para/Equisexual– These mean equal or on the same level and since pansexuals love indiscriminately of gender, I thought it’d make sense.
  • Idesexual– Ide means idea, thought, shape or picture so I thought this might be a good way to describe how pansexuals are attracted to the idea of someone or their “personality.”
  • Entosexual– Ento means within and pansexuals are attracted to “hearts not parts” and what’s within one’s soul, so to speak. It would describe being blind to gender.
  • Dia/Disexual– Dia or di means throughout, between, apart or detached; basically it’s kind of abstract which, the concept of how pansexuals experience attraction kind of is as well. Can conveniently be shortened to “di” like bi.

I also saw a post about possibly creating a new term to describe feelings detached from gender, or not really having a solid concept of preferences/not liking any one gender more than another which I think it describes.

My flag designs:

*Flags may not load correctly on mobile*

The colors don’t mean anything in particular. I had trouble enough finding a color scheme that didn’t look like an eyesore or too closely like an already existing flag. I tried to retain the light and “happy” feel of the original pan flag while still having noticeable differences. Now, I’m by no means a linguist nor do I have much experience designing anything. Nothing is set in stone so, if you have any suggestions or comments, please, I’d love to hear your thoughts and get some feedback! My inbox is open or you could shoot me a message and discuss person to person. For now, I will be tagging these posts as #idesexual. If you see this, could you like if it sounds appealing or reblog and help spread?

-Thank you!

@gendervoidperidot how is it??

if anything, it the opposite??

“hearts not parts” mean that you are not attracted to body part, like vagina and penis.

it mean you are attracted for who they identify as, even if they aren’t transitioned

ie, attracted to female even if they don’t have vagina

I’m sure you didnt get what op meant by it, it ok!

My english is very bad, apology and hope you know now!

Have good day!

Hi, there! I’m very sorry for having triggered you. I want you to know that I’ve realized my mistake and appreciate you speaking up. I’ll be mindful not to use offensive or potentially harmful language like that again. I wish for my new term to be comfortable to use by anyone so, it is important to me that I receive feedback like yours. There is a poll up now where you can vote for which term sounds the best!

🌻specific lesbian terms!🌻

mogai-sunflowers:

since lesbian is such a large umbrella of experiences, i realized some lesbians may prefer more specific terms to describe their lesbianism, especially non-binary ones, since they are all too often excluded/forgotten about in lesbian terminology and discussions.

obviously, all the people whom the following orientations are for are already included under lesbianism, and if they’re find identifying just with lesbian then all power to them! these are just terms for lesbians who would prefer terms expressing their lesbianism and their gender identity more specifically!

i’ll be making the turian ones soon!

if you are exclus please don’t interact with this post or these terms, you will be blocked.

Color meanings: Likely colors close to pink, but not exactly to represent the “similar but separate” aspect of Juxera. The same goes for the Proxvir design with colors close to blue, but not exact.

Color meanings:

“The idea is the pink and blue on the ends of the shape represent the “girl” and “boy” genders, while the blue/gray, faded navy, and light purple represent the body of the gender spectrum. the green triangles represent where exactly each gender falls on the spectrum, which is “near girl” in the juxera flag and “near boy” in the proxvir flag, and point toward either pink or blue.”

Proxvir:

A gender relative to male, but is something separate and entirely on it’s own. it is not outside the gender spectrum. [prox from “proximus”, latin adjective for near, “vir” from masculine latin noun]

Altersex

pride-color-schemes:

Altersex: a catch-all term consisting of alter, meant here as “different” or “another possibility,” and sex, referring to physiological primary and secondary sex characteristics. Altersex is meant to be used largely, but not exclusively, for fictional characters, describing body plans that are not found naturally in homo sapiens, or, in the case of real individuals using this as an identifier, those who have a mental body plan/view of their “true” self that has a body that fits under altersex. Altersex can also refer to -possible- sexes that are neither perisex nor intersex, in the cases of those who go through HRT or sexual reassignment surgery of some sort, since those people definitely shouldn’t use intersex.

**slurs and discussion of specific sex characteristics below**

This term was coined by and for trans and intersex individuals for these purposes:

To address the use of “intersex” when describing people and characters who are not actually intersex, but are not perisex either. This means that either their actual body or their desired body does not conform to either binary sex standard in some way, but is not this way due to any variation of intersex. This can be due to sexual transitioning, being of a fictional/impossible sex, being able to shapeshift to change sex characteristics, or having an “alien” sex that is not found in humans but may be found elsewhere, such as a species that has different sexes from our own.

To allow for a nonsexualized, nonslur term for fictional or transitioned sexes, as opposed to describing them as things like “h*rm”, “c*ntboy”, “d*ckgirl”, “f*ta” and the like, as is currently popularized. This is very important, as both of these issues as they currently stand are transphobic and anti-intersex, to say the very least.

Altersex does not imply any specific sex characteristics, just as intersex does not; this allows for privacy of the altersex person and avoids reducing individuals to their genitalia. Hopefully, this will greatly reduce fetishization of intersex and trans people in art and fiction, as well as provide a helpful, neutral descriptor for characters and individuals who are altersex.

For clarification, altersex is any sex that is not perisex or any variation of intersex. A character with Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome would be intersex, not altersex. Altersex individuals/characters are not the way they are due to any variation of intersex! Some altersex individuals/characters may resemble such sex states to some degree, but they are different. Those who have undergone hormonal therapy or surgical procedures that affect their sex characteristics, as well as those with dysphoria of this nature or an internal identity that resembles this would also be altersex. Altersex can describe both a physical body or an internal sex identity, or both! As some cannot get surgery/hormones or have an internal idea of their sex that is not physically possible, these people should still be respected as altersex to reflect their true nature as they see themselves.

This is not a kink term and should not be used as such!

Full size [Here]

Designed by: @pastelmemer

Color meanings:

Mint green is commonly associated with specific altersex identities, like angenital and salmacian. And also because green represents abundance and growth: abundance of possible body types, and growth as in people who physically transition to “grow” into their true bodies.

Blue represents fluidity, for bodies that have fluid sex characteristics.

White represents transcendence, as well as bodies with no sex characteristics.

Purple represents the alternative, non-traditional nature of altersex bodies.

Reddish pink represents sex characteristics.
