Apparently this seems to be a common problem (I see people asking this everywhere!), but there doesn’t appear to be a separate term for this, just demibisexual. Sorry!
Oh good! That’s great to hear, here’s your answer anon!
Apparently this seems to be a common problem (I see people asking this everywhere!), but there doesn’t appear to be a separate term for this, just demibisexual. Sorry!
A QPR is the name of a relationship that is queerplatonic in nature, with queerplatonic being the type of attraction felt. Alterous is like an umbrella term that covers all attraction that is not completely platonic or completely romantic, while Queerplatonic falls under that umbrella as it represents attraction that is a hybrid of platonic and either alterous or romantic attraction, or attraction that is based in platonic but transcends it.
Queerplatonic attraction usually represents attraction that is a hybrid of platonic and either alterous or romantic attraction, or attraction that is based in platonic but transcends it.
I totally agree, I meant someone who is Heterosexual AND Heteroromantic. If you are not someone who is all of these at once (Heterosexual, Heteroromantic, Cisgender, and Perisex), then you are LGBT+/MOGAI
Heteroaesthetic: aesthetic attraction towards a different gender
Since it is only Heterosexual and Heteroromantic identities that are considered societal norms, Hetero- pride flags for other forms of attraction are acceptable.
Heterosensual: sensual attraction towards a different gender.
Since it is only Heterosexual and Heteroromantic identities that are considered societal norms, Hetero- pride flags for other forms of attraction are acceptable.
Heteroplatonic: platonic attraction towards a different gender
Heteroqueerplatonic: queerplatonic attraction towards a different gender
Since it is only Heterosexual and Heteroromantic identities that are considered societal norms, Hetero- pride flags for other forms of attraction are acceptable.
I simplified the greyomnisapphic flag. This makes it easier to make buttons, physical flags, fan art, and in general artsy with the flag. Have fun 😜
Greyomnisapphic: a type of greysexuality where on the rare occasion that they do exhibit sexual attraction, they consider themselves pan/omni but strongly lean towards sapphic.
Would you guys like a message board (it’s like a more organized version of facebook groups) for the alter-human community in general? (therian, otherkin, vampire/vampyre, etc.) I feel like it’d be an awesome way to facilitate communications and networking between people in the community who feel like they, as a whole (psych, spiritually, etc.) never quite fit the “stereotypical human” definition.
I am only signal-boosting this here because I know we’ve made flags for different communities within the alterhuman community before and I feel like people might benefit from it 🙂
Transspecies: to identify as a species other than the one that was assigned at birth; for humans, to identify as something other than human. Under the Alterhuman umbrella.
Although there is some overlap, being Otherkin does not necessarily mean you are Transspecies unless you identify as such.
This whole “having an archive blog/account is the same thing as art theft” thing is just another consequence of the banalization of pride stuff, imho.
Pride stuff is meant to be:
distinctive, so people don’t mistake it for other symbols or flags;
spread, so people can tell what identity they are or are advocating for, so people can associate a picture with an identity and know without asking what something stands for (on a logo or a tattoo or something), so people have a graphic to associate with an identity on its own and not to associate with a certain set of politics, organizations, and so on;
simple, so it’s more easy to reproduce and remember.
So, what happens if you mess up on those things:
If your flag or symbol is not distinctive enough, people will easily mistake it for something else, and then they will not be able to know whether something is about your identity or about something else, so the point of having something to help represent/visualize a particular identity is gone.
If your flag or symbol is made hard to spread, either because you want people to ask for permission first, either because you want people to only reblog or link to the original post and you don’t care about each archive’s kind of organization which may only give you a link at the end/at the description, either because you only agree to share it privately, people will probably have to move on to another symbol that can be easily spread, that can be associated with the community as a whole, and not just with who made it. Of course people should be called out if they want credit for something you made, but someone making a quick list of flags on an image sharing site or having an icon with your flag as the background shouldn’t be considered stealing, because pride flags and symbols are supposed to be public domain. So people can spread them further and make your graphics representative of the community.
If your flag or symbol is not simple enough, people won’t be able to fit it into small areas, won’t be able to remember how it goes, won’t be able to reproduce it on certain circumstances, and so on: things that will fit in one of the previous problems.
Now, you can make pride graphics and not have them be public domain! You can make complicated flags or symbols for the aesthetic and not care about how other people won’t be able to reproduce or spread them! You can make stuff that isn’t well thought-out!
But don’t act like those are pride flags or symbols that the whole community should be using, don’t act like those are viable substitutes for stuff that fits those three qualities, and don’t expect people to magically understand that the stuff you are labeling as pride flags/symbols aren’t supposed to be held to those standards.
That’s so great! @ask-pride-color-schemes have gender and orientation masterlists in their FAQ! You could also check out archive blogs, like @pride-flags and @the-mogai-archive.
Although still not a common practice, there are regions of the world where other genders and sexes outside of the M/F binary are recognized, including some that have “indeterminate/unspecified” or other options for birth certificates. This is typically designated by an “X”.
Alexigender: gender identity which is fluid between more than one gender, but the individual cannot tell what those genders are.
Girlflux: when one feels mostly or all female most of the time but experiences fluctuating intensities of female identity. This can be fluid with any other identity.
1. Progesterone: not for everyone, but for many people it may increase
sex drive and WILL make your boobs bigger. Also effects mood in ways
that many find positive (but some find negative). Most doctors won’t
prescribe this to you unless you ask. Most trans girls I know swear by
it.
2. Injectible estrogen: is
more effective than pill or patch form. Get on it if you can bear
needles bc you will see more effects more quickly.
3. Estradiol
Cypionate: There is currently a shortage of injectible estradiol
valerate. There is no shortage of estradiol cypionate. Functionally they
do the same shit.
4. Bicalutamide: This is an anti-androgen that
has almost none of the side-effects of spironolactone or finasteride.
The girls I know who are on it are evangelical about it.
Are there HRT medications that don’t increase blood clot risk? I’m already at risk because of my blood pressure, and my doctor won’t prescribe HRT that increases clot risk while I’m on the medication – and I may never not be on the medication.
Absolutely.
The concerns surrounding venous thromboembolic events as a side-effect of hormone replacement therapy can mostly be traced back to one particular study known as the Women’s Health Initiative. This study was an enormous undertaking which, unfortunately, demonstrated significant adverse effects of the hormone therapies studied. As a result of this the use of hormone replacement therapy in postmenopausal cis women was dramatically reduced as the medical community began to question whether or not the therapy caused more harm than good.
Naturally, trans women have been suffering from this fall-out ever since.
What physicians seem to fail to recognize is that the study examined a very specific hormone regimen which was, arguably, outmoded at the time the study was conducted: It examined the use of conjugated equine estrogen (Premarin) with or without the use of medroxyprogesterone acetate. Neither of these drugs is regularly used for the treatment of transgender women.
The estrogen most commonly used to treat transgender women nowadays is 17β-estradiol either in pill form or in the form of a sticky patch that you apply to your skin. Esters of estrogen (e.g. estradiol valerate) are also sometimes used either in a pill form or as an intramuscular injection.
Transdermal estradiol patches are the gold standard when it comes to treating women who are at high risk of a venous thromboembolic event. It simply does not increase the risk of developing a venous thromboembolism. The only thing you should keep in mind is that patches are not always well tolerated because of the lifestyle changes required to keep them from falling off and the fact that they tend to irritate the skin.
It’s difficult to find hard numbers regarding the relative risk of venous thromboembolic events with regards to hypertension. The best I could find after an hour or so of searching was this study regarding VTE in lung cancer patients. Hypertension increased the risk by a factor of 1.8.
As far as the anti-androgen is concerned: The primary use for spironolactone for cisgender people is as an antihypertensive.
Even if the risk of thromboembolism was truly significant with modern hormone replacement therapy it wouldn’t justify what your doctor is doing to you. The fact is that mortality in the transgender community from suicide–caused in part due to the lack of access to hormone therapy–is substantial. The quality of life lost when a trans woman is denied hormone therapy is substantial. The fact that your doctor does not appear to be taking this into consideration when they weigh the risk of thromboembolism against not receiving necessary medical care is deeply concerning.
I strongly recommend that you seek a doctor who is more sensitive to your medical needs as a transgender woman.
Edit: Fixed a minor, but embarrassing, error.
oh wow this is so helpful & good info
Everyone who cares about transfem people please reblog this
this was really fucking helpful
I know a lot of trans women dont have acess to information like this and its very helpful.
Not necessarily “uncommon”, but good for those who are looking to transfeminine hrt!

Cenrell (pronounced sen-rell):
a gender identity where one feels most comfortable within the gender neutral spectrum, but still feels a strong attachment to masculinity. This is similar to the idea of “manugender” (nonbinary with emphasis on masculinity). This is the “masculine” version of faesari.
The colors of the flag are based loosely on the different skin tones found in the drell species in the Mass effect games (since we’re mostly exposed to the boys of the race in the mass effect series).
People have been requesting a masculine equivalent (at least around different tumblrs and where the faesari flag has been posted on social media), so here you go!
-SynHeart
Confundogender: a gendered feeling that is confusing to the person experiencing it, to the point that they cannot define or explain it.
The flag colors are based on the color light spectrum where the colors being to change into different colors.
-SynHeart
Concedogender: when you cannot be defined as questioning because you no longer question, but you never reached a particular identity. You conceded and said “I’m okay with not finding out”
Flag colors based loosely on the Implasexual flag since the definitions are similar (one of the two definitions for implasexual at least)
-SynHeart
Kynigender: a gender which is not able to be pinpointed due to the stress of the questioning process causing anxiety
-SynHeart
Polyaffectionate: for wanting multiple partners in affection… of a not-necessarily romantic (and often emphatically not romantic) kind
Polyaffectionate = multiple intimacies
And it opens up the conversation to be about *all kinds of intimacy* in *all kinds of relationships*.
It’s rarely used as an “identity” descriptor though, because most people have multiple intimate relationships in their lives (whether partners, friends, siblings, etc.). So the word is more about a way of recognising all forms of intimacy in all the various relationships where it exists, instead of being an identity. But there’s no reason it can’t be an identity descriptor.
Flag meanings: “Since there’s a polyamorous flag and a queerplatonic flag, I incorporated elements from those flags and the aromantic flag(s) to make this one! For poly aros (whether you identify as polyaffectionate or polyamorous)!”
This can sometimes be difficult to tell for sure. To me, masculine and feminine tend to have to do more with outward appearance, while male and female has more to do with your inner sense of your gender. There are feminine men and masculine women, but they still identify as men and women respectively. So when asking myself that question, it would be something like “Do I want to look and act feminine today, or do I just feel like a woman?” And it could be both, of course! It can just sometimes be tricky to differentiate these feelings due to society’s conflation of these terms. If its too distressing, you don’t have to pinpoint exactly what your identity is. Some people just stick with the simplest of terms because sometimes its just not possible to tell, and therefore use terms such a Non-Binary or Genderqueer.
As for your second question, that’s not something I have personal experience with, but I have read about other nonbinary people who have taken T. So in theory, the answer should be no, but I think it also depends on how enbyphobic your provider is. I’m lucky in that the place I am hoping to have a certain surgical procedure is pretty accepting of Nonbinary identities, but not everywhere is. So don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t work out the first time, there are many accepting medical providers out there!
I think it may appear that way due to some of these identities typically being used contextually. For example, the non-libidoist and libidoist pride flags I just made. Now of course, having a libido isn’t anything rare. However, you typically don’t hear people that do calling themselves “libidoist”. This is because these terms are typically used by the a-spec community; they can help distinguish an asexual who is a non-libidoist and an asexual who is a libidoist. They can also be used to describe non-aspec people who are non-libidoists, but are still not asexual. Since there is a difference between attraction and drive, having these different terms can be helpful.
Another example is -platonic or -queerplatonic attractions. Most people could fit somewhere on these spectrums, but most don’t label these attractions. They’re most often used by aroaces or other a-spec individuals to label their association with platonic attraction. An aroace who is panplatonic (or panqueerplatonic), and is therefore willing to enter into some sort of non-sexual and non-romantic relationship with any gender, is distinguished from an aroace who is aplatonic (or aqueerplatonic), as they do not feel any sort of attraction and most likely do not wish to be in any sort of relationship.
That’s not to say people can’t label themselves with these terms in other contexts, its just that most choose not to.
I’ll throw some terms out, see which one is best for you. 🙂
Apothi-: An orientation defined by repulsion. Whether or not they feel a type of attraction is irrelevant to them due to their repulsion towards the idea of being in that kind of relationship.
Adfectu-: Whether one is able to feel a kind of attraction depends on one’s state of mind; also describes someone whose sex repulsion fluctuates based on their state of mind. For survivors and neurodivergent people.
ARCsexual: the general term for a person who feels averse, repulsed, or conflicted towards sex.
Hesi-: When you feel a certain attraction hesitantly or uncomfortably. Not repulsed by it, but it is somewhat off-putting.
Inact-/Inacto-/Initia-: When someone experiences attraction and wants a relationship but doesn’t want or is repulsed by actions associated with that type of attraction.
Modo-: An orientation that is constantly changing; changes may include fluctuations between sex-repulsion and ambivalence to sex.
Neuroa-/Neuro A-: Feeling attraction or wanting to participate in actions associated with a type of attraction, but you are scared of, repulsed by, or aversed to, them due to being (or relating to being) neuroatypical, neurodiverse, or mentally ill.
Repuls- An orientation characterized by repulsion to sex/romance/etc.
Erotogender: A gender or genders that are felt specifically under sexual circumstances, felt specifically in sexual contexts, different to what is generally felt in other contexts and situations. A significant shift in gender/s during sexual situations or context. Someone who identifes as this may feel different gender/s in a sexual context compared to the rest of the time.
It could be! Only you can really know that for sure, and it make take some time. Even if your gender changes, you’re still bi or pan! And even if it shifts to genderless, that’s still under the nonbinary umbrella!
Its definitely not unheard of for someone’s gender to shift due to the attraction they are feeling, or vice versa! So you’re definitely not alone in that. If you feel like you’d like some gender or orientation terms that may fit you a bit better, don’t hesitate to ask, okay? 🙂
Sex-Neutral/Sex-Indifferent: having no strong opinions on sex; not pursuing sex but not averse to it either regardless of sexual orientation
Romance-Neutral/Romance-Indifferent: having no strong opinions on romance; not pursuing romance but not averse to it either regardless of romantic orientation
Sex-Negative/Sex-Repulsed/Sex-Averse: describes a person’s extreme distaste or disgust of sex or things related to it; when you don’t want to engage in sexual acts regardless of sexual orientation
Romance-Negative/Romance-Repulsed/Romance-Averse: describes a person’s extreme distaste or disgust of romance or things related to it; when you don’t want to engage in romantic acts regardless of romantic orientation
Celestial: people who believe they are a “higher entity” or being, and feel a deep resonance and connection with the cosmos and everything around them. People have described feeling ethereal and “out of this world”. Celestials are beings from “up there,” meaning the stars, cosmos, or other plane seen as being of the stars or “above” earth such as heaven
If that still doesn’t sound like you, you may have better luck asking a blog that is specific to helping those with alterhuman personal identities 🙂
Differosexual (or differoromantic, ect. for various types of attraction); a multisexual orientation wherein one feels attraction to multiple genders (and/or genderless individuals) different from their own gender/s. Or, attraction involving at least one nonbinary person who interprets their gender* as different from their partner’s.
A differo binary man/woman experiences attraction to the other binary gender and at least one nonbinary gender (or genderless person). The specifics of the nonbinary person’s gender and whether the nonbinary person considers their gender dissimilar enough to the binary person’s to count as different-gender attraction is up to the nonbinary person to interpret.
A differo nonbinary person feels that all people they are attracted to do not share that gender, whether that is because they don’t have a gender, have a complicated or rare gender identity that statistically none of their crushes are going to share, or because they don’t consider the whole of their identity equivalent to someone sharing part of it*.
*ie a bigender man/woman may or may not consider their attraction to a binary man or woman to be gay, differo, or something else.
Notes: Alternate suggestions for the term itself and the flag are welcome since I am not the best at coining stuff, but I have the concept itself fairly clear in my mind. This word was created with myself in mind (I feel like no matter who I’m attracted to it’s het but het doesn’t exactly suggest multigender attractedness. I’m like the nonbinary version of het) but I decided to post it online incase anyone found it useful. If anything about the term is unclear feel free to ask for clarification. Also, I looked for a term like this but found none, if one already exists let me know.
Flag suggestions: (would appreciate input on whether 1 or 2 is more aesthetically pleasing)
Flag meaning: Gendered attraction is not always a simple, black and white matter- hence the shades of gray on the flag. The pink represents attraction.
There are quite a few (I’m assuming you mean gender identity), so I’ll throw what I can find on here and you can see which one fits. 😀
Genderwhat: being unable to understand the concept of gender or of having a gender due to neurodivergence. (Currently no flag)
Nesciogender: A gender one is not completely sure of due to one’s neurotype disallowing a clear understanding of the concept, but has a vague sense of what it could be
Nologender: a term for neurodivergent people who have difficulty grasping the concept of gender. (Currently no flag)
Novigender: When your gender experience (or lack thereof) is complicated in such a way that it is difficult or impossible to fit into one word or term.
Scorpigender: A gender that is a mystery, and very difficult to understand. lots of labels vaguely fit it, but almost none can fully describe it.
Scorpifluid: a gender fluid between unknown genders
Vapogender: A gender that sort of feels like smoke. One can see it and understand it on a shallow level but if one tried to go deeper it disappears, and one is left with no gender and only tiny wisps of the gender one thought it was.
Vexgender, or Vexegender: When one’s gender is in the non-binary/agender spectrum, but pinpointing it beyond that is impossible because the individual does not understand the concept of gender.
Arigender or Ariesgender: A complicated gender identity that you cannot explain or is very hard to explain. A gender that does not fit under any labels. An unfathomable gender.
Chaosgender: When your gender does lots of confusing things and doesn’t make any sense.
Horrorgender: when you gender identity is so fluid and “all over the place”, it almost scares people (hence the horror part).
Confundogender: a gendered feeling that is confusing to the person experiencing it, to the point that they cannot define or explain it. (Currently no flag)
Glitchgender: you may or may not have a gender, but either way its glitched and confusing (Currently no flag)
Spectragender: a gender that is such a huge, complex, and or confusing spectrum that you can’t begin to define it (Currently no flag)
Turbogender: A gender that you have tried to figure out but is too confusing and tangled.
Anongender: A gender that is unknown to both yourself and others.
Mazeplexgender: A gender identity best described as a dense forest or maze which is easy to get lost in, and is hard to navigate through or pinpoint a specific location or gender. It may be unknown to the person if it’s even possible to navigate through this forest or maze to find any answers.
Seagender: a gender that is as deep and unknown as the ocean itself. It’s a gender that is mostly incomprehensible but slightly familiar in human terms.
Concedogender: when you cannot be defined as questioning because you no longer question, but you never reached a particular identity. You conceded and said “I’m okay with not finding out” (Currently no flag)
Kynigender: a gender which is not able to be pinpointed due to the stress of the questioning process causing anxiety (Currently no flag)
Migragender: for those who are questioning their gender and don’t want to pin it down to one or two words; who are flitting from gender to gender to see how they all feel (Currently no flag)
Xumgender: Never being satisfied with your gender due to constant self-doubt or identity issues, causing one to compulsively search and seek out something that fits as perfect as possible–to find “the gender” or “the one truth”–though one will never be found due to one’s neurotype, because words will never be able to describe it, and/or its own properties paradox itself. This frequent anxiety and doubt even causes this gender to feel imperfect to the individual.
Implagender / Inexgender: Never being satisfied with your gender due to constant self-doubt, causing one to search and seek out something that fits as perfect as possible. Similar to Xumgender but not exclusive to neurodivergent people.
I know thats a lot of terms, so if I’ve made a mistake somewhere please tell me!
Praegender: a god-like gender far outside beyond the normal cognizance of gender that it’s omnipresent, not null, but Other, and beyond mortality and time.
hey everyone! i used to identify as ‘solarian’ but i really came to realize that that label doesnt fit me exactly right. my genders always been tied to fire really ddeeply, so i decided to create my own term.
flamarian!
reds: flame pale orange: the nonbinary nature of the flag dark red: lack of gender (gender / a fire ‘dying’) gray: the different experiences of gender (ash)
the yellow/orange dots are embers!
i wanted to post this in case anyone else found it relateable!
You can’t control what your kintype is. If the individual who has an alterhuman personal identity is racist, then of course that is wrong and should be called out, and what their kintype is doesn’t excuse that. But they can’t help what their alterhuman personal identity is.
Some of them may be similar, but not quite the same! So if someone finds a term that might only somewhat fit their experience, they may coin a new term that reflects that, and that’s why there are as many terms as there are! So its definitely necessary to the people who use these labels. 🙂
Hmm.. well, if its still not a gender, then perhaps an alignment?
Galaxian : a combo of Stellarian, Solarian, and Lunarian.
Stellarian: With as many possible identities and presentations as there are stars in the sky, a Stellar Nonbinary Person, or Stellarian, would be someone who does not experience strong alignment with either binary gender, or who rejects such alignment.
Solarian: In many cultures and religious systems, the sun is associated with masculinity, and male energy. As a result, a Solar Nonbinary Person, or Solarian, would be someone who has similarities in identity or experience with men. The term functions as a less easily abused form of “male aligned.”
Lunarian: In equally many cultures, where the sun is man, the moon is woman and feminine energy. As a result, a Lunar Nonbinary Person, or Lunarian, would be someone who has similarities in identity or experience with women. It functions as a less easily abused term for “female aligned.
I’m sure they’ll post in on their own blog eventually, but I can post them here if you’d like!
Deifigender: Feeling like a gender that is something more, something divine and deific, impossibly powerful yet difficult to explain.
Deifigirl: Feeling like a girl, but also something more, something divine and deific, impossibly powerful yet difficult to explain.
Deifiboy: Feeling like a boy, but also something more, something divine and deific, impossibly powerful yet difficult to explain.
Deifinonbinary/Deifienby : Feeling like a nonbinary gender, but also something more, something divine and deific, impossibly powerful yet difficult to explain.
But so many people seem to forget the “BEYOND” in our blog name/url. It’s there for a reason. We create flags for numerous communities (therian/otherkin, alterhuman, mad pride, etc.). The LGBT+/MOGAI community does NOT have a trademark on the idea of “visual representation of something you’re prideful in” (aka pride flags).
We love your submissions for flags by the way. Keep them coming!
You could still draw one! It doesn’t have to be perfect, and flags are typically more simple on the design. Pick which colors you think are most representative of the identity you want to make a flag for, and how many, and draw whatever comes to mind. Sometimes you’ll try multiple different designs before you feel like you made the right one, but that’s perfectly fine!
Baph (pronounced “baff”) description: a xenogender/nonbinary experience based in occult and magickal feelings where one feels like a balance of self-defined polar ‘energies,’ such as masculine/feminine (not male/female), spirit/material, sky/land/sea, light/darkness, etc. being both energies while also being something unique that is between and transcends them. It draws from Eliphas Levi’s image of the Baphomet and symbolism within it, and has a feeling of occult transcendence, embodiement, liminality, and perversion of boundaries.
Similar to androgyne, but off the binary and related to other polar concepts and forces instead of the binary genders.
Baph can be used in place of words like girl/boy/man/woman. It can also be modified (e.g. demibaph, alte-baph, etc)
this is awesome! thank you for submitting @regrettiquete!!
A queerplatonic (or quasiplatonic, or quirkyplatonic) relationship is a relationship that is not romantic but involves a close emotional connection (platonic) beyond what most people consider friendship. The commitment level in a queerplatonic relationship is often considered to be similar to that of a romantic relationship. People in a queerplatonic relationship may be of any romantic or sexual orientation. A partner in a queer platonic relationship is called a zucchini; A relationship that is neither completely romantic, nor completely platonic. The members of the relationship may see it to be a mix of romantic and platonic relationships or something that transcends the two.

Those flags are clearly for the Alterhuman community and are tagged as such.
Eros Vampire: A person who identifies with a vampire on some level (spiritual or other) who feeds on the sensual/sexual/romantic energy of others. This is compatiable with asexuality.
The black/purple/grey is for the night sky, the red-orange and pink is for sensuality.
-SynHeart
Psy Vampire: An individual who identifies with a vampire on some level (spiritual or other) who gets their energy from “feeding” on the aura of others around them (animal and/or people).
The black/purple/grey are for the night sky, the red/blue/yellow is a basic color palette for the idea of different colors of auras.
-SynHeart
Sanguinarians: Also known as a “sang vampire” or “sang vampyre” , it is a person who identifies as a vampire on some level (spiritual or other) and drinks the blood of others (animals and/or people), despite the potentially severe health consequences of said actions (parasites, HIV/AIDS, hepatitus, iron overdose, etc.)
The black/purple/grey are based on the idea of the night sky, the different shades of red are for blood
This will probably be my last post on semantics for a while, since I want to focus on other things, but I know a lot of people really dislike “otherkin” being an umbrella term and want something else, so a while back I wrote up this little idea. Please note to take it with a grain of salt and, if you don’t like it, please feel free not to consider yourself part of it. This is simply a suggestion based on common complaints I have seen in various communities – it is in no way absolutely flawless. In general, do what makes you comfortable – if this isn’t something that makes you comfortable, don’t feel that you have to use it!
Alter-human/Alternative Humanity Personal Identity “AHPI”
A category of personal identity which encompasses identification that is alternative to the common societal idea of humanity.
For the sake of this categorization, the “common societal idea of humanity” is classified as such:
The common human identity involves:
-Identification with the body in the sense that the body is part of the self, unrelated to a sense of gender or any form of personal expression; at the basest level, a common human identity is an identification with the mechanical human form, bodily function, etc – feeling correct in a human body, the one given to the self at birth, when gender, race, and societal concepts are removed; not feeling that the body is not one’s own. (Simple/Example: A transgender person is not/may not be AHPI because they still consider themselves human, and still consider the body to be theirs – just incorrect. Of course, transgender people may be AHPI, but being trans is not an AHPI identification, unless the gender of said trans person directly correlates to a nonhuman concept of gender.)
-Identification involving a singular persona within a body present from birth and which has not differentiated from the original-born persona which is attached to the body. (Simple/Example: A multiple system would be AHPI due to multiple persons existing in one body. A walk-in (which occurred after birth, or by their own identification this way) is also AHPI as they are not the “original.” A median who experiences their multiplicity as facets of self or other similar but still non-singular sense would be AHPI.)
-Identification as a human with no supernatural personal basis BY SAID PERSON’S OWN DISCRETION. (Simple/Example: A person who identifies as human and as their born persona in this life but who has an identity involving past lives may be considered AHPI if they so decide their experiences dictate as such. A person who believes themselves to be human in this life but spiritually angelic would be considered AHPI, assuming they identify as their angelic spirituality and not as a human. Some religions and spiritualities might include reincarnation but those who follow said spiritualities may not feel they fit in this category.)
-Identify as human regardless of personal subculture. (Simple/Example: A furry would be human if they consider themselves to be, but a furry who identifies as a furry more than anything else may be AHPI due to identification as a member of said subculture as part of one’s overall personal identity.)
AHPI identities may include, as per personal discretion: -Therian, phytanthrope, otherkin, and fictionkin identities -Multiple, plural, median, and walk-in identities -Spiritual self-identities which may still include degrees of humanity such as angelics, celestials, starseeds, god shards, reincarnated gods, vampires, etc -Identities involving shared self-identification with nonhuman or other alternative human entities/concepts such as animal-hearted, godspouse, soulbond, and spiritual medium identities -Identities of alternative humanity through disassociation, trauma response, or non-neurotypical mental status
Of course, all of these may either agree with or deny identification as AHPI, depending on personal discretion. Don’t feel a need to subscribe to any one label just because it exists. Do what makes you feel good!
I totally hear you, it frustrates us quite a bit as well. Even since the beginning of the blog, I’ve had in mind the idea of making or accepting flags for multiple different identity groups. Pride flags are not just for LGBT+/MOGAI identities (many kink/fetish flags are older than most LGBT+/MOGAI flags!), and I wanted people from different groups to have the chance to have their own flags that represent them!
Many people who are LGBT+/MOGAI here on Tumblr are also Alterhuman in some way, so its not surprising that there are TONS of requests for these identities, and Mad Pride is already a movement with its own overall pride flag(s), so when people started asking for specific pride flags related to that I accepted. And I’m still contemplating making flags for physical disabilities as well (the only reason I haven’t yet is because of how bogged down we are with requests from our current selection as it is).
We have posted many times that we make pride flags for more than just orientations (be it sexual, romantic, sensual, platonic, alterous, queerplatonic, aesthetic, or relationship) and genders. It’s in our FAQ, which many people don’t bother to read before sending in asks considering how many asks we get saying “You think this is LGBT??!?!?!!” And, like I stated before, its not like this was a transition from the blog only being for LGBT+/MOGAI identities and then accepting more, making flags for all sorts of identities is the point.
That’s why the name is Beyond MOGAI Pride Flags!! BEYOND! Not just MOGAI!
I apologize that this is so long now, but yes, it does concern and bother us that people conflate all of these identities just because we make pride flags for them.
However, we aren’t going to stop being a service to those who wish to have pride flags for their identities made for them. We can only repeat ourselves so much. At this point, it just seems like willful ignorance on the part of those who just see the word MOGAI in our blog title after their friend posted one of our flags to make fun of it and then sends us an anonymous ask saying “You think <insert something here> is LGBT??!”
I didn’t mean to make this as long as it was, but I definitely agree that this is a problem. Thankfully, more blogs are popping up now that separately make pride flags for separate identity categories, but the demand still far outdoes the supply at this point.
Sorry if this sounded rude at all! ^-^;; Thanks for the polite question!
so i’ve long held the personal theory that ‘druid’ might have been a spiritual third-gender role in ancient celtic society. they had a discrete set of roles, expected character traits and style of dress from other, typical men and women. druid was a ‘class’ of person that the celts believed were inherently better seers, advisors, judges, poets, etc, than the other classes of people. people who became druids were usually picked for an inborn spiritual capacity they seemed to have, and two decades of their early life were dedicated to giving them the skills they needed to utilize that.
even if it was not factually considered so at the time, i think there are more than enough reasons that it makes sense to view it through that lens now. i feel as a scottish, pagan, nonbinary person i have the right to extrapolate on this phenomenon as it relates to my identity, especially because of the absolute dearth of accurate information on the celts that has survived due to imperialism. i have never felt a pull to celtic neopaganism, but the historical accounts of the druids feel to me like a window into a culture that i ought to still be part of today. so i’ve taken things into my own hands:
draoidhe (’droo-iy’, from the scottish gaidhlig word for ‘druid’) is a nonbinary gender characterised by a connection to nature, art, and spirituality in the context of ancient and modern celtic culture. what these three things mean is up to the draoidhe to decide according to their own experience of being a nonbinary celt.
as it stands this label is only for people from the celtic nations. it represents a reclamation and reconstruction of a culture and history that we continue to struggle for against western imperialism. if you don’t have the lived experience of being a celt, you don’t have the cultural context to fully understand this term – that being said, i’m being lenient with what i consider ‘lived experience of being a celt’ because it’s, uh, kinda hard to be raised in a mostly-dead culture. just be cool, alright?
my icon is inspired by an idea i’ve seen lots of lil references to scattered about the internet. ‘gender pirate’ is a term that gets mentioned alongside genderqueer sometimes, with hints of a definition here and there. here’s my attempt at stringing it all together into a fuller definition!
if going ‘stealth’ is for ninjas, pirates are the exact opposite. they are a flavor of genderqueer which is about being aggressively, loudly, visibly queer.
gender pirates take what they like from the existing ideas of gender around them and weave it into something flashy and dangerous. they try to disrupt the average person’s ideas of gender normalcy by appearing charming and menacing, multifaceted and single-minded. gender piracy is as much an action as it is a presentation as it is an identity. it is both hyper performative and incredibly authentic. these people are the the foppish highwaymen, the dapper gangsters, the daring corsairs. you don’t have to incorporate a nautical aesthetic to be a gender pirate, but it helps!
i consider myself a gender pirate because being visibly gender-nonconforming is very important to my sense of self. i don’t care about being read as a man or a woman, but i do care about people thinking i’m cis – the thought of that makes me really dysphoric!
and yes, i do relate heavily to the nautical aesthetic 😉 but that part is not mandatory! the aesthetic associated with this label (if you want to associate any aesthetic with it at all!) is inspired by all kinds of swashbucklers.
referring to alterhuman/nonhuman people who are sexually and/or romantically attracted to other alterhuman people and/or nonhumans. this can mean monsters, aliens, or mythical creatures – any intelligent nonhuman creature.
this is a term i’ve wanted for myself for a while. it’s inspired by achillean and sapphic kinda, but i don’t want to imply that just being medusan makes you queer or anything!! if ur a cishet alterhuman you can use this term but pls don’t call yourself lgbt bc of it. this is just a term i find helpful and think that other people will too ^^
purple represents alterhumanity. i chose a bright pale shade to reference ultraviolet – a color beyond human perception. this is supposed to represent the unseen nature of alterhumanity, an identity beyond normal human boundaries!
green represents nonhuman creatures. from dragons to zombies to little green men, lots of nonhumans are green! specially, this also references the snakes in medusa’s hair.
salmon represents love. but being an off-color from both pink and red, traditional love colors, it represents the uniqueness of medusan attraction and how it differs from human attraction to monsters etc
the triskelion is a symbol that has been used lots in heraldry as a symbol for medusa.
this term is for alterhumans only! i made this term bc i literally only experience attraction to monsters but talking to ppl from terato tumblr makes me as an alterhuman feel.. fetishized kinda? clearly i am experiencing a different feeling of attraction to monsters than human people are, and i think a lot of other alterhumans might feel like that too!
this is why i chose medusa to name the term after. regular humans who look upon her face turn to stone, but we’re not regular humans! we are perceiving a feeling of attraction that they simply can’t.
i hope other alterhumans find this as useful as i do ^^
Definition: A person who is indifferent / apathetic to sexual attraction. The term makes no distinction whether the person feels sexual attraction, only that they are indifferent to receiving or acting under that attraction.
Biflux: When you’re bisexual, but your attractions fluctuate.
Or, if you don’t wish to specific, you could use Sapphic
Sapphic: Referring to women or woman-aligned NB people who are sexually and/or romantically attracted to other women(-aligned) people. Applies to lesbian, pansexual, bisexual, and other women(-aligned) who are sexually/romantically attracted to women(-aligned).
So this is my first batch of -aesthetic flags! More will come, but I do have to make them and I really would love help. I am also not going to define these since they can be found in the spreadsheets.

I’ve had people asking me about plus-sized binding tips, and I’ve been at a loss because I’m, like, the toy version of a transgender?? So these r for u!
The idea I went for was a mix of colour and darker shades. This is supposed to represent the different colours of feathers birds can have.

Splattersensualis A new community built around the idea that sensible human sexuality is beautiful, like an art form. As such, Splattersensualis puts emphasis on creativity, artistic expression, and embracing your sexuality and sensuality.
The creator wants to put emphasis on having “common sense” and be aware of laws in regards to human sexuality. Things that involve individuals or items that can not consent (adults dating: corpses, minors, inanimate objects, etc.) are NOT involved with the movement because it involves objects and people who can’t consent. The person who made this term wishes to remain anonymous at the time. The creator also wants to remind people that there is a difference between kink and fetish (fetish means you NEED sexual things attached to something while kink is just something that’s “unusual” or “bizarre” to the “average” person on the street).
Splattersensualis is meant as an all-encompassing umbrella term for different forms of human sexuality (lgbt/mogai, kink, bdsm, polyamorous vs mono, sensualarians, etc.) to come together and embrace each other’s Identity. It acknowledges that people often have a complex, multi-layered identity when it comes to defining their own sexuality and sensuality.
It stands for Marginalized Orientations, Gender Alignments and Intersex. Its an alternative abbreviation for the LGBTQIAP+ community without the need to add more letters to be more inclusive. 🙂
hey there LGBTQ kids who are also Christian/Jewish! If you feel like you’re disobeying God, questioning your faith, or feel wrong and dirty for loving who you love, there’s this fantastic site I found today called hoperemains that accurately and thoroughly combs through scripture and its (many) mistranslations, validates your orientation, and basically let’s you know that you’re not pissing off God. It’s insanely thorough and after reading through every page on the entire site it’s super helpful. Go check it out!
hoperemains is completely from a Christian perspective, and not pluralistic or interfaith at all.
If you reblogged the first post from me please reblog this amendment so the Jewish peeps can access this resource too!
Trans Jewish kids, you can go to TransTorah as well!
Muslim LGBTQ kids, you can go to iamnotharaam! It’s run by a mod squad of different genders and orientations, and they take submissions from everybody!
