Didn’t really like how every ally flag just had the straight flag as the background, since queer ppl can very much be allies to other queer ppl, so:

I made some new ally flags! Instead of the straight flag bg, it’s the flag of the opposite (ex: trans ally has the cisgender flag, neopronouns ally has the tradpronouns flag, asexual ally has the allosexual flag, etc) :3

Transavire Pride Flag

7 stripes of dark pink red, red, orange, white, light green, teal, and dark blueALT

Transavire (transgenderavire): being both transvir and transera; an umbrella term for all trans people whose gender(s) is/are male-adjacent and female-adjacent, male-aligned and female-aligned, male-identified and female-identified, and/or male and female. Can be used as a single-word adjective version of ‘trans manwoman’, ‘trans boygirl’ or ‘trans girlboy’ (ex: ‘I’m transavire’).

It’s a form of genderavire. Although it may overlap with transmascfem, not every transavire is mascfem. It’s also similar with transfemache, tliagender, tlingender, trans ambinary, transdrogynous, etc. However, it’s not always a simultaneous experience.

Someone can be transavire for any reason. One of their trans identity could match their AGAB/assigned gender, for example. They could be AGAB nonconforming (ANC), intersex, plural system, multigender (e.g. bingender), genderfluid (i.e. binaryfluid), gendervast, centrigender, cross-aligned, cusper, etc.

Designed a flag and described combining transvir and transera flags and definitions. Not sure if already made, only mentioned here.

Tliagender Pride Flag

7 stripes of cyan, dark blue, blue, light purple, violet, soft indigo, and pinkALT

Tliaspec/tmesospec (tliagender/tmesogender spectrum)/tliaty, transliaspec/transmesospec (transliagender/transmesobinary spectrum)/transliaty/tmesobinary, or simply TLIA (translia), transmeso/tmeso: umbrella term for trans individuals who fits both “mia-” and “fia-” sides of the viabinary-to-aptobinary spectrum.

It’s similar to transavire (transgenderavire), tbingender/TBIN (transbin/transbingender), tlideospec/tlideo (tlideogender/tlideobinary), and tlingender (TLIN/translin)/translingender. It could also anyone who fits both tmaingender and tfeingender (TMAIN/TFEIN) spectrums.

Intrafemasc Pride Flag

7 stripes of three pinks from dark/hot to lighter, sandy yellow, and three blues from light to darkerALT

Intrafemmasc/intrafemasc, or intrafemasline/intrafemmasline: transgender/non-cis individuals who identify fully or partially as a femasline/mascfem gender, or feel that femaslinity/femascness strongly influences their gender.

The individual could be intersex or plural system and be both intrafeminine and intramasculine, or they could be AGAB nonconforming (for example, being intramasculine as a result of self-assignment/SAMAB or intrafeminine and rejecting birth assignment), they could be just intrafeminine and admasculine/transmasculine/sensmasculine/gendertidal/etc. (and vice-versa: intramasculine and adfeminine/sensfeminine/transfeminine/genderlunar/etc.).

Not to be confused with intramascfem.

This includes trixenamorics, neptunics, mestric lesbians/darcians/feminamorics, pansexuals, panromantics, nomasexuals, nomaromantics, variangled people, and more, for example.

Not every femboric consider themself to be mspec, it depends on the person. Also, this doesn’t mean they are attracted to binary women or every form of nonbinary.

Heterogaybian Pride Flag

ipsogender:

Mesosex

A flag that has the structure of the intersex flag but different colours. A salmon background with a large periwinkle ring in the middle. The area within the ring is white.ALT

Mesosex: somebody who identifies with intersex people but not as intersex, and also feels perisex does not quite apply to them either. Meso- from Greek mesos (middle), to indicate that one feels in between having the intersex experience and the perisex experience. For example, people with reproductive disorders who feel they have common ground with intersex people but not so much common ground as to feel they are intersex.

There are conditions like PCOS and Poland Syndrome that exist on a spectrum from definitely intersex to perisex-ish, and I hope this term gives people on the perisex-ish side of the spectrum more useful word for themselves than the current language of “intersex-adjacent”.

I want to be clear that people with conditions like PCOS and Poland Syndrome are completely entitled to call themselves intersex and that there is broad agreement within the intersex community that anybody with these conditions who feels they are intersex is intersex.

In coining this term I am hoping to validate and connect people who would otherwise call themselves perisex yet not feel it is quite accurate for them.

Mesosex people can have any gender, similar to how intersex people can have any gender.

In designing the flag our goal was to give an impression of something in between the intersex flag and cisperinormative gender colours whilst also including nonbinary people. The salmon background is chosen as a colour that is not quite pink, and the periwinkle ring is chosen for being not quite blue, but still reminiscent of the purple ring of the intersex flag. The white centre, put inside the purple-ish ring, is chosen to reflect how the nonbinary flag has white and purple in its middle.

The term and flag were workshopped with @scifimagpie. I had been thinking for a while that it would be useful to have a term for people who feel in between intersex and perisex, and these recent posts by @queercripintersex on identifying with rather than as not only convinced me there is actually an audience for such a term but also inspired me to get this done!

PS. If you are questioning if you are intersex, check out this post by @intersex-support with a big list of intersex media, which you can use to get a sense on whether you resonate with intersex experiences. (Also check out their FAQ! And their past posts! They’re really great!)

[outline + gradient] [gradient] [plain/no color]

I didn’t coin the terms, I just made flags for them. (See the terms’ original post here)

───────────────

I got some asks for other terms in that post, and eventually decided to make flags for all of them once I figured out the format (as well as make an alt virsic flag. feel free to keep using the original one though)
(original virsic flag here).

I think they came out pretty good :)? I’m open to feedback though.

───────────────

Each has two flags, the first with a symbol and the second is just plain stripes.

The flags’ color meanings are:
Virsian: blue & green for men, lavender for feeling gay for men, and off white for all genders (since these terms don’t specify the gender of the user).
Liersian: pink & orange for women, lavender/violet for feeling gay for women, and off white for all genders.
Rivean: blue & green for men, grey for feeling straight for men, and off white for all genders.
Reilian: pink & orange for women, grey for feeling straight for women, and off white for all genders.
You’re probably seeing a pattern with the color meanings here. The remaining flags are similar, they’re combinations of the above flags’ colors with the same meanings, with some minor adjustments (specifically the green and orange of revlian and rivlerian) for aesthetics.

For the symbols:
Like originally, the symbols are inspired by the interlocking gender symbols other orientations have. I used a plain circle to represent any/all genders.
The colors for the symbols are taken from their base flags, and carry the same meanings. I wasn’t sure how to represent feeling gay or straight for a gender using symbols (that isn’t just using the same or opposite gender for the other symbol, since this is for all genders), and thought colors might be a way to represent that (there’s likely a better way to do it than what I did). They use the main colors green/orange, with a purple/grey gradient for feeling gay/straight. They also have darker outlines to help separate them from the background colors.

“We chose the term “asexual” to describe ourselves because both “celibate” and “anti-sexual” have connotations we wished to avoid: the first implies that one has sacrificed sexuality for some higher good, the second that sexuality is degrading or somehow inherently bad. “Asexual”, as we use it, does not mean “without sex” but “relating sexually to no one”. This does not, of course, exclude masturbation but implies that if one has sexual feelings they do not require another person for their expression. Asexuality is, simply, self-contained sexuality.”

The Asexual Manifesto, Lisa Orlando and Barbara Getz, 1972

Note the date, people:

That’s 1972

29 years before AVEN was started online,

and 47 years before the present.

And that’s only the date that Manifesto was written, so asexuals as members of a community must have existed at least some time before that.

So, no: we are not just Tumblr trenders. Get out of here with that.

This term was not defined yet, but used in an illustrative infographic from gender juxtaposition diagrams.

It should be noted that trinaries could depend on one’s cultural arities, as the tertiary trinary gender could be a culturally specific identity (“third gender”) or could just be neutral (neutrois/agender). Sometimes trinary/nontrinary doesn’t apply to the individual either, for example when one’s gender is from a quinary or senary system.

deltaxquadrant:

mestric

a catch-all term for all orientations, attractions, partnerships or similar involving non-binarity; all those that cannot be categorised according to a same-gender vs. opposite gender dichotomy. it encompasses non-binary loving women, non-binary loving men, non-binary loving non-binary, men loving non-binary, women-loving non-binary and more specific identities too, such as androgyne loving men, women loving xenogender or maverique loving agender.

in short, it’s an umbrella term for all orientations, attractions, partnerships and similar that aren’t (exclusively) binary loving binary and thus don’t fit neatly into the (binary) definitions of straight/hetero and gay/homo (of course non-binary people can still be gay or straight, but it’s mestric and thus different from binary experiences of straightness and gayness).

mestric unites everyone who has their orientation/attraction/partnership erased and invalidated based on the idea that non-binary people don’t exist or can be grouped in with binary genders. mestric is defiance against having to misgender our partners (and for non-binary people, ourselves), a demand to be taken seriously and have community. mestric is elevating our experiences to the same level as binary loving binary orientations. mestric is equality. mestric is affirming our partners’ (and our own) genders while visibilising love, attraction, affection to and partnerships involving non-binary people and the specific experiences that come with that.

the name mestric was chosen based on a genderfluid shapeshifter from greek mythology named mestra.

a 3 stripe flag, yellow, cream yellow. there's a sunflower on the cream-coloured stripe.ALT

this is the mestric flag. the yellow stripes symbolise non-binarity and the sunflower represents joy.

Nowoma- Veldian Pride Flag

5 stripes: blue, purple, half white, half light grey, teal, and dark purpleALT
  • Nowoma-/nowoman- (nowomansexual, nowomaromantic, etc.) or nofein-/nofia (nofiasexual/nofeinsexual, nofiaromantic/nofeinromantic, etc.): attraction to every gender but binary women; or attraction to all genders except fiagender/feingender.
  • Veldian/turian: being gay for men (virsic/virsian); a term for gay men, and those adjacent to them (such as gay NLM, if they feel connected to it); queer attraction to men (QLM/MLQ); or a label for nonwomen loving non-women (NWLNW/floric/cinthean).

It may overlap with nofemaric uranians, nofin- turians, violaens (violae veldians) or chrysantheans, pencontra- cintheans, uranic florix, toren- veldiens, or veldienboric/turienboric (uranienboric/uranien, florienboric/florien, virsienboric/virsien).

Noma- Lesbian Pride Flag

5 stripes: purple, pink, white, orange, and hot pinkALT
  • Noma- or noman- (nomasexual, nomanromantic, etc.): Having attraction to every gender but binary men; or feeling attraction to all genders except men.
  • Lesbian: Label for queer attraction to women (QLW/WLQ); being gay for women (gay4women); homo sapphic (WLW/NBLW); or nonman attracted to nonmen (NMLNM).

Not the same as pencontra- lesbian, nomascic lesbian, trixen- lesbian, neptunic lesbian, nomin- lesbian, rosaean, or lilaen (lilae lesbian), but they may overlap with each other. Also note that both definitions are polysemous – have a variety of multiple meanings.

Trixen- Sapphic Pride Flag

5 stripes: light purple, white, pale orange, pink, and violetALT

Trixenamoric or trixen- (trixensexual, trixenromantic, trixenplatonic, trixensensual, etc.): sole attraction to women and non-binary people.

Sapphic: juvelic umbrella term for queer attraction to women (exclusive or not) [QLW/WLQ].

Noma- Sapphic Pride Flag

5 stripes: purple, pink, white, heavier pink, and violetALT
  • Noma- (nomasexual, nomaromantic, nomaplatonic, nomasensual, etc.): Feeling attraction to all genders except men; or attraction to every gender but not to binary men; or nomain- (nomainsexual, nomainromantic, nomainsensual, etc.)/nomia- (nomiasexual, nomiaromantic, etc.): being attracted to any gender but not to maingender/miaspec folks.
  • Sapphic: juvelic umbrella term for women attracted to women; woman-aligned individuals loving women-aligned individuals (WLW); femaric queer people (queers attracted to fiaspec people); inclusive of non-binary people attracted to non-men (exclusively or not).

Nowoma- Sapphic Pride Flag

5 stripes: blue, lavender, white, pink, and violetALT
  • Nowoma-/nowoman-/nofein-/nofia-: Having attraction to all genders but women; feeling attraction to any gender except binary women; attraction to every gender but not to feingender/fiaspec identities.
  • Sapphic: a juvelic umbrella term for queer attraction to women (or non-men), woman-aligned people, feminine folks or non-men.

There are many reasons a sapphic can be nowoma- (nowomalterous, nowomasensual, nowomasexual, etc.), one reason is being varioriented or variangled (i.e. nowomaromantic/nowomanromantic sexually sapphic [sapphosexual/sapphisexual/saphisexual/saphosexual/saphsexual/sapphsexual); or nowomaplatonic/nowomanplatonic romantically sapphic (sapphoromantic/saphromantic/sapphromantic/sapphiromantic/saphiromantic)], another is using it to mean being attracted to woman-aligned non-binary folks but not to women. It’s also possible for enbians (NBLNB) and cenelians who feel sapphic to be nowoma-, being attracted to saphboys (sapphic men), penulti-/differo- women, using sapphic to mean fem attracted to fems or nonmascs, or mestric and diamoric sapphics; the second definition of nowoma- also gives a chance to be attracted to non-binary women.

Mestric Veldian Pride Flag

4 horizontal stripes equally sized: pale yellow, white yellow, teal, and dark purpleALT
  • Mestric: a catch-all term for all orientations, attractions, partnerships or similar involving non-binarity (e.g. nln, nlm, mln, wln, nlw, mla, nla).
  • Veldian or turian: being gay for men (gay4men/G4M); homo vincian (MLM/NBLM); queer attraction to men (QLM/MLQ); non-woman loving non-women (floric/cinthean/NWLNW).

Many used “diamoric veldian” to mean the same thing as mestric veldian, however this is more specifically ample (including any toradonic gay folk, for example, torians, gaicians/gaidians/gairians, veldienbies, veldienborics, etc.).

Mestric Lesbian Pride Flag

4 stripes of pale yellow, yellowish white, orange, and hot pinkALT
  • Mestric: a catch-all term for all orientations, attractions, partnerships or similar involving non-binarity (e.g. nblnb, nblw, wlnb, mlnb, nblm, wla).
  • Lesbian: queer attraction to women (QLW/WLQ); a label for being gay for women; umbrella term for nonmen loving non-men (NMLNM/faunic/daunic); or homo sapphic/WLW (women who like women).

I used to use “diamoric lesbian” (x; x; x; x) to mean this. However, diamoric is mostly used to mean attractions experienced by non-binary people and descriptor of relationships involving at least one nonbinary folk. “Mestric lesbian” would include lesbienboric aptobinary primlunic women (binary maedix/wln), for example, along with non-binary lesbians (i.e. gaibians, trixians, lesbienbies) as well as some cenelians, iridians, and enbians

internet censorship bill about to pass congress:

ao3 is facing a ddos attack from an overseas right-wing anonymous group because it contains “degeneracy and disgusting things like LGBT and NSFW”.

they’re not the only right-wing group that is attacking fanfiction sites because of queer & nsfw content. the Heritage foundation, the US right wing think tank that writes laws for republicans, wrote an article about how “big tech turns kids trans” in which they’re advocating for the Kid’s Online Safety Act to pass because it will give state attorney generals power to sue websites for “potentially harmful content towards minors”. in this article they point out websites like wattpad, tumblr, tiktok, twitter as sites that GOP attorney generals can and will target for censorship if this bill passes. all places where fandom, that’s mostly queer, hangs out.

if you think this bill has no chance of passing because of all the red flags it poses, think again. it currently has 38 cosponsors in the senate, and is being pushed by the democrats as a “protecting the children!!” type bill.

there are left-aligned orgs in congress rn lobbying for this bill to pass. july is extremely decisive, because if KOSA goes through to markup it’ll be bundled with the Earn It act, Restrict, and all the other bad internet bills and passed as a package, completely censoring the internet forever.

if you want to learn more about the bill, go here. also sign the open letter against it here

it’s ESSENTIAL that you call your members of congress, specifically Maria Cantwell (you can call from out of state) and tell them DO NOT PASS KOSA. this site here connects you to your members of congress and gives you a short simple script to read off of! super easy and doesn’t take much out of your day! please do this now!!

Biparenting (biparenthood): a dual multiparental term; two individuals parenting a progeniture and/or having two parents, exclusively or primarily.

Ambiparent Pride Flag

3 stripes of teal, pale gold, and vivid purpleALT

Ambiparent: a parent that considers themself to be both a mother and a father, for any reason.

In Brazil, it’s common for people to use pãe (pai+mãe) denominating ambiparents. This concept is usually used by single parents who share both parental gender roles while parenting, while not essentially being multigender or non-binary at all (but it’s useful for them). However, many non-single/nonsolo parents can be this, as many of them parent primarily alone or experience system member plurality. Another reason could be being an intersex parent or transitioner parent.
